Pourhound

A nose for good whiskey.

Hear when a hard-to-find bottle turns up on a shelf near you, and rate every pour: what you tasted, and where you had it. For bourbon and American whiskey.

The Hunt

Spot a hard-to-find bottle on a store shelf and post it. Hunters near you hear about it while it’s still there.

  • Wheated bourbon, 12 year

Corner Bottle Shop, 4 miles away

$39.99 on the shelf. 3 left.

Verified at the store 25 minutes ago. Still there, say 2 hunters.

  • Barrel-proof bourbon, fall batch

Main Street Wine & Spirits, 7 miles away

$64.99 on the shelf. 1 left.

Verified at the store 2 hours ago.

  • Single-barrel rye

    Westside Liquor, 11 miles away

Gone. Two hunters reported it gone yesterday.

Example sightings. A sighting is tied to the store, never to where you are, and Pourhound never handles buying or selling.

Rate what you taste, and where

Every pour gets a rating, the notes you tasted, and where you had it. Next time, you know what to order and where to find it.

Kentucky straight rye

4½

Neat, at a hotel bar in Houston. Friday night.

  • Rye spice
  • Cherry
  • Black pepper
  • Toasted oak

Your friends gave it 4 and 4½ glasses. Everyone: 4.2.

Rate in glasses
Half glasses included, because some pours sit right between.
Name what you taste
Pick notes from the flavor wheel or write your own words.
Remember where
The bar, the tasting room, the friend’s porch. The place stays with the pour.
Compare
See what your friends and everyone else tasted in the same bottle.

What else it does

The rest of what a whiskey lover keeps in their head, in one place on your phone.

Label Finder
Snap the label, and Pourhound finds the bottle for you. No typing long names at the bar.
Your shelf, with levels
Add a bottle, log pours from it, and watch the level drop. Open, sealed, and killed bottles all stay on your shelf, so you always know what you have.
Friends and the feed
Follow people, cheers their pours, and see what they’re drinking and where.

Why we built it

“My shelf is full, and I can never remember which bottle I liked.”

It started with the whiskey lovers in our own family. Notes lived in phone photos, half-remembered conversations, and the backs of receipts. Pourhound is the workaround: one place that remembers for you.
